LILE A RELENTLESS AND bloodthirsty tyrant sweeping down on us on the wings of a cold wind from the east, bringing with it fear, famine and filthy underwear, the future is preparing to beat us into submission. Like a bad dream waiting to happen we know that it could be lurking round any corner ready to pounce, bounce and trounce us into near oblivion. And we fear it the more because we know that it has no sense of timing, no intelligence, no sense of proportion, no charity. Without a moment's hesitation, the future could mug us, strip us, reduce us to primordial slime and smash up our hi fiswith a baseball bat. Power like that demands our respect. Future Fear rules. In all our lives the spectre of the unknown future looms above us like a dark cloud. But it does not have to be so. It is possible to overcome the potential for destruction that breathes fear into lives. Looking to the past to learn the lessons it has to tell us, taking care of the present to create the best possible situation, taking hold of our own mental and physical health and committing ourselves to the evolutionary process, all these in their many parts make for a better future.
