The Mayans Ain't Sayin'
Who werethe Mayans and where did they go? For 2000 years Mayan culture dom- inated South American life. Then, almost over night, the Mayans disappeared. But not without a trace. They left us their monumental mountain- top cities of wide avenues, mass- ive temples and towering pyramids richly carved with hieroglyphs that are only now revealing their secrets. A prosperous culture, as rich in esoteric knowledge as in gold, what lead the Mayans to abandon their great cities, forsake all their knowledge and leave behind their mysterious legacy? Coffeehouse Culture has some answers that are even stranger than the quest- ions. Prepare to be astounded. TOP OF PAGE/FURTHER READING Visions of St. Diana? The mists are clearing. An old man sits scrying before a shimmering bowl of water. His face is lit by the light of the future. The images he sees are confused and confusing. Who are the pig men and what does the name Hister mean? Where is the Great New City where fire rains from the sky? Wh atcatastrophe will occur in Paris in 1997? The old man is Nostradamus and as it is the 15th cent- ury he does not know that the pig men are fighter pilots wearing oxygen masks. He merely writes down his visions as best he can. For 500 years the visions of Nostradamus have given the world something to think about, puzzle over and, occasionally, marvel at. Now Coffeehouse Culture looks again at Nostradamus and what he had to say about the times we are living in and the future that is about to hit us in the face. ing, we are all in the fast lane whether we like it or not. And, unfortunately, there seems no effective way to remove stress from the system. Stress feeds on stress until our bodies or our lives go out of control and we find ourselves spinning off into oblivion. So what can we do? Well, to tell you the truth, many of us are already doing something about our levels of stress and we don't even know it. The real problem here is under- standing the complicated and subtle nature of stress. However, Coffeehouse Culture has the full monty. In a startling and revelation- ary story, we will be taking the lid off the stress syndrome and showing it up for the Cosmic entity it is. Putting forward a completely new approach tostress and its place in the lives of individ- uals and in society, we will be bringing you original and groundbreaking knowledge based on our own inner researches. For the first time the truth will be told about stress. TOP OF PAGE MUMMY'S COMIN' Waiting for the Mothership? Well, it may have landed. Lights in the sky? You bet. If the mysterious story of the UFO crash at Roswell in Texas intrigues you, there is an even stranger (and much more recent) one. What happened in the forest at Woodbridge in Suffolk that resulted ![]() in a 20 mile area being cordoned- off? Why were those who spoke of lights in the sky and powerful explosions silenced? What was in the ambulances that quietly left the site in the dead of night? Something happened. Something so significant that the Government representative responsible for denying UFO sightings resigned saying that he could no longer disbelieve in visitors from other galaxies. And why was a certain Guru so interested in buying the airbase near the site? Does he know something that we don't? All these questions and more will be Continued below TOP OF PAGE |
seeking the knowledge of the Masters, of the seers, shamen, sages and saints who are the protectors of the ancient tech- niques of evolution, Mr Bliss has emerged as one of the unsung heroes of consciousness. AA man of mystery, what is most mysterious about Mr Bliss is that he has agreed to edit the Inner Light pages. But who on earth could be better qualified? A lifetime world-traveller prepared to endure the harshest condit- ions in order to study with the greatest magical and mystical masters, a member of many holy orders and initiate into the most secret techniques and disciplines, possessing a unique treasure house of knowledge of the great spiritual traditions, Mr Bliss has danced to the Pan Pipes of the Joujouka, experienced the revelations of the Emer- ald Forest, heard the sound of one hand clapping, lain on his back on the banks of the Ganges and watched the Milky Way curdle and, for all we know, been on board the Mothership. He would, indeed, seem to be the ideal editor for the Inner Light Section. AWith his soul now happily settled in the Vajraya trad- ition of Tibetan Buddhism and his body a resident of New Mexico (and, yes, he did know Carlos Castenada), Mr Bliss is poised to begin the next stage of his journey towards Enlighten- ment. As he guides us through the forests, jungles and, sometimes, deserts of the infinite inner world we all share he will be exploring and explaining the teachings he has received from the Great Masters. In sharing this vast fund of sacred knowledge, Mr Bliss will be joining the Great Tradition of Spiritual Teachers who have, throughout hist- ory, sought to bring light to those in darkness. With Mr Bliss as our Guru we will walk the paths of righteousness until we are, at last, treading in the Footsteps of the Gods. TOTOP OF PAGE |

Simon Magus is said to have perfected the alchemical art, to have created the legendary Philosophers Stone that turns lead into gold and grants eternal life. And turn almost any page of history andhe (or one of his many aliases) seems to be around to make a guest app- earance. At Christ's right hand in the year dot, founding the Gnostics in the 3rd century, hobnobbing with the Spanish Inquisition in the 13th century, with Madame de Pompadour in the 1700s and with the literary Victorian Bloomsbury Group in the 1800s, he certainly got around. Was he the original Magus of black magic fame, the legendary Wandering Jew, the possessor of the fabled Sacred Key of Abramelin the Mage or was he just a lot of different people all with the same name? answered in our breathtaking report. Maya Entertain You? The world as we know it is a quantum physical event. As the new science of quantum physics reveals the secrets of the universe, new perceptions regarding the nature of reality bring us face-to-face with ancient cultures. Suddenly the Hindu concept of Maya, the illusion of reality, has a new relevance. With sub-atomic particle accelerators demonstrating that matter only exists because of consciousness, we must consider again what reality is, what it means and how it can be changed. Such powerful knowledge has effects on every aspect of how we interfacewith our individual and collective realities. If you are seeking knowledge of the true nature of life so that you can be empowered to make the greatest contribution for yourself and others, Coffee- house Culture has the facts. TOP OF PAGE The Age Sage Life is a sexuallytransmitted dis- ease with a 100% fatality rate. Isn't that what they say? And, just in case we haven't got the message, life gives us those little reminders. As mentally and spritually we reach our peak, our bodies are going rapidly in the other direction. Oh, the awful inevitability of it. We all know that for each of us it is going to be a wrinkly, crinkly not very twinkly future. Maybe that is why man never stops searching for the impossible. Throughout history and into the present, the grail of eternal youth has occup- ied man's attention. But is it so impossible? According to new age health guru, Deepak Chopra, it is possible to hold back the ravages of time, to stop and even reverse the ageing process. And there is scientific research to prove it. So why isn't everybody jumping up and down and shout- ing about it? As a part of our series exploring and explaining the philosophy and techniques of the amazing Mr Chopra, we'll be telling all. Eternal youth? Well, that might take a little longer. TOP OF PAGE/FURTHER READING |
LURKING ROUND ANY
CORNER WAITING FOR OUR ARRIVAL IS THE SPECTRE OF FUTURE FEAR READ THIS STORY IN PRINTABLE PLAIN TEXT Like a relentless and blood- thirsty tyrant sweeping down on us on the wings of a cold wind from the east, bringing with it fear, famine and filthy underwear, the future is preparing to beat us into submission. Like a bad dream waiting to happen we know that it could be lurking round any corner ready to pounce, bounce and trounce us into near oblivion. And we fear it the more because we know that it has no sense of timing, no intelligence, no sense of proportion, no charity. With- out a moment's hesitation, the future could mug us, strip us, reduce us to primordial slime and smash up our hi fis with a baseball bat. Power like that deamnds our respect. Future Fear rules. In all our lives the spectre of the unknown future looms above us like a dark cloud. But it does not have to be so. It is possible to overcome the potential for destruction that breathes fear into lives. Look- ing to the past to learn the lessons it has to tell us, tak- ing care of the present to create the best possible situation, taking hold of our own mental and physical health and committing ourselves to the evolutionary process, all these in their many parts make for a better future. THE MAYANPROPHECIES By Adrian G. Gilbert & Maurice M. Cotterell This is a book that became very popular when it hit the remaindered bins -- everybody got a copy for Christmas that year. It is a strange book that to a large extent is devoted to exploring the Mayan calendar but by far the most interesting bit is that which deals with the tomb lid of Pacal, which is said to give a precise date for the end of this age of the world. Consisting of a fair amount of mathematics, the book contains an interesting theory about how the negative and positive sunsigns get to be that way. A good read if a bit academic. UK READERS SAVE £1.20 US READERS SAVE $2.99 |
xx | FINGERPRINTSOF THE GODS By Graham Hancock This is another strange one. A long and meandering look at the similarities between the Egyptian and Mayan cultures, it takes in the flood myths and relates them (through the Mayan calendar) to recorded historical events. Indeed, Hancock is one of the leading proponents of the 'new approach to history' that takes mythical events and demythologises them. Although this is an interesting book, I did not enjoy it nearly as much as his revelationary volume about the Ark of the Covenant (The Sign & the Seal), which was breathtaking in the new inform- ation it contained. Recommended. UK READERS SAVE £1.60 US READERS SAVE $3.40 |
xx | THEPROPHECIES OF NOSTRADAMUS By Erika Cheetham There are lots of books containing and explaining Nostradamus' esoteric prophecies but this is the one I've read and the one that seems to have started it all. Although the great visionary's quatrains are rich and colourful they are also deeply impenetrable. Thus all of the books contain commentaries. Not that it helps a great deal as so many of them deal with contemporary events that may have seemed significant at the time but made barely a mark on the pages of history. How-ever, there are a fair number that deal with current events and a number that deal with events yet to come. UK READERS SAVE £1.20 US READERS SAVE 80 cents |

THE HOLYBLOOD & THE HOLY GRAIL By Baigent, Leigh & Lincoln What a powerful and revelationary piece of writing this book is. When I read it all the missing pieces of history fell into place. It made sense of mysteries, particularly relating to Christ, that had bothered me for years. Packed full of interesting information, it will make you revise your view of history. Although the book has been knocked for its shoddy research, the main thrust is absolutely right. And sparkling new, original and revolutionary. This is Life of Brian without the laughs. One of the few books to mention Simon the Magus. Highly recommended. A 'must read'. UK READERS SAVE £1.40 US READERS SAVE 80 cents |
xx | BLOODLINEOF THE HOLY GRAIL By Laurence Gardner This is a book that that owes much to 'The Holy Blood & the Holy Grail'. But mainly for creating the interest in the subject. For this contains much that extends and explains the hypotheses put forward by its progenitor. Indeed, it is the book that finally explains the myth of Simon the Magus and unscrambles a number of other confusions mainly created by the Vatican. Lots of interest stuff about the Essenes and John the Baptist. Unfortunately, it is out of print at the mo but we include it here because it is in Amazon's catalogue and will, therefore, presumably be back. UK READERS SAVE £1.20 US READERS CLICK HERE |
xx | THE TOWEROF ALCHEMY: An Advanced Guide to the Great Work By David Goddard Despite its title, this book puts itself forward as an accessible guide to a hitherto inaccessible subject and the readers reviews on the Amazon site would seem to bear this out. Although we haven't read it, we include because any readable book about alchemy is worth mentioning and because the subject itself is so fundament-al to a real understanding of the lies, damn lies and complete and utter hypocrisy that make up history as we know it. The only other half decent book on alchemy we have ever come across is a book of alchemical symbolism. One for our Christmas list. UK READERS SAVE £2.44 US READERS SAVE $2.99 |

QUANTUMHEALING By Deepak Chopra This is the book that brought Dr. Chopra to the notice of the rich and famous. And it is hardly surprising. For it is a remarkable tour de force that is full of original and extremely profound revelations. Although ostensibly a book about health it is much, much more. This is the book that brings the teachings of the ancient Vedic Civilisation that have been the basis of the most longstanding and passionate spiritual traditions into the light of the 20th century. It is more than 5000 years since the Vedic Rishis cognised the truths of consciousness and their words have echoed down the corridors of time unchanged -- until Deepak Chopra. Full of great stories of 'mind over matter' cures and very understandable explanations of quantum physics. A book that will change your life. Highly recommended. UK READERS SAVE £2.60 US READERS SAVE $2.99 |
xx | UNCONDITIONAL LIFEBy Deepak Chopra This is one of two books in which Chopra extends his hypothesis of consciousness into a series of practical techniques designed to gain control of not only your body but your life. This one deals with healing your life and covers many aspects of creating your own reality. Of the two books, this one is by far the most interesting. In it, Chopra introduces many powerful techniques that extend beyond the individual physiology into personal relationships and the creation of a more fulfilling and successful reality. Although thoroughly recommended, this is definitely a book for advanced reality manipulators and is decidedly a sequel to Quantum Healing. The other book, currently unavailable, is much more an extension of the physical healing techniques introduced and explored in Quantum Healing. UK READERS SAVE £5.80 US READERS SAVE $2.99 |
xx | RETURN OFTHE RISHI By Deepak Chopra This is rather different from Chopra's main output and what a charming and thoroughly heart-warming little number it is. Essentially an autobiography, it is a story full of reverence and awe. With some well written tales of saints, it is a joy to read. Not least for Dr. Chopra's elegant description of his fated encounter with Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, founder of the Transcendental Meditation movement, from which Chopra draws much of his profound understanding of consciousness and it effects. Ever eager to bring his ancient teachings up to date, the Maharishi saw the very man for the job in Chopra and the good doctor rose rapidly through the ranks of the TM movement bringing his modern medical training to bear as he developed Maharishi's ayurvedic knowledge. A great read. UK READERS SAVE £1.20 US READERS SAVE $2.80 |
